Handstand workshop
You’ll be heel over head in no time!
• Developing and practicing safe handstands
• Handstands bring many benefits, are invigorating and fun to reverse our normal view of life, the workshop is open to those wishing to work towards handstand and also those who are already able to do the posture as variations will be given.
• The focus of the workshop is to work towards them in a safe and mindful way. We will break down the postures as well as try out some variations for those up for a challenge.
• You will learn preparatory postures to build the strength, stability and flexibility necessary for each posture. You will also learn alignment tips and tricks to help get you off the ground.
• This will be a fun and challenging workshop. Expect to fall, laugh, get back up and do it all again.
• Suitable for complete beginners, as well as for people who want to enhance their practice and dive deeper
• In the Hatha Yoga tradition, inversions before they were known as an ‘Asana’ were referred to as Vipareeta Karani Mudra – ‘the reversing attitude’.
• From the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, chp 3 verse 79: ‘With the navel region above and the palate below, the sun is above and the moon below. It is called Vipareeta Karani, the reversing process’.
